Feeling Awkward in Front of the Camera? Here's How I'll Help You Relax

If the thought of posing for your graduation photos makes you a little nervous, you're not alone. Most of my clients tell me they feel awkward in front of a camera—and that's completely normal.

Here's the thing: you don't need to know how to pose. That's my job.

I'll Guide You the Entire Time

From the moment we start shooting, I'll walk you through everything:

  • Where to stand and how to position your body

  • What to do with your hands (the thing everyone worries about most)

  • How to sit, lean, or walk naturally so nothing feels stiff or forced

You won't be left standing there wondering what to do. I give clear, simple directions so you can just focus on being yourself.

Natural Expressions

Forced smiles are easy to spot in photos—and they're not what we're going for.

Instead, I'll help you find relaxed, genuine expressions that actually look like you. Sometimes that means cracking a joke. Sometimes it's a quiet moment between shots. We'll figure out what works for you, and by the end of the session, smiling will feel effortless.

Tell Me What You're Self‑Conscious About

Everyone has something—a side of their face they don't love, a feature they'd rather downplay, or just general camera shyness.

If there's anything you'd like me to know, tell me beforehand. I'll use posing, angles, and lighting to make sure you look and feel your best. That's what I'm here for.

Sitting, Leaning, and Movement

Not every photo needs to be standing straight up. Some of the best shots come from:

  • Sitting on steps or a bench

  • Leaning against a wall or pillar

  • Walking naturally while looking back at the camera

These poses feel more relaxed and give your photos variety.

You Don't Need to Practice (But You Can)

There's no homework required before your session. But if it makes you feel more prepared, try this:

  • Stand in front of a mirror and practice a few smiles

  • Notice which angles feel most natural

  • Get comfortable seeing yourself the way a camera might

Even five minutes can help shake off some nerves.

The Bottom Line

My job isn't just to take photos—it's to make sure you feel comfortable while I do it. By the end of our session, most of my clients tell me how much fun it all was!

So if you're nervous? Don't be. I've got you.
